Hot Jazz and Swing Outdoor Concert at the Trinity Church in Connecticut (CT)
Svetlana & the Delancey Five were invited by Trinity Southport Church in Southport CT to play an uplifting open air concert for the local community on the lawn in front of the church.
The church decided to create this fun family event to look forward to during these difficulttimes! They invited attendees to enjoy an afternoon of hot jazz and swing on the front lawn of Trinity Church, Southport. Geared towards an audience of all ages, there was be something for everyone. Attendees were asked to bring a lawn chair and/or blanket - and of course to wear a mask!
This was an afternoon to remember - the band has performed a 90 minute concert enjoyed by patrons of all ages! While it was a little difficult to see the smiles behind the masks and sunglasses - the band was greeted with roaring applause after every song - and little kids were dancing in the ‘isles’.
The event goal during this unprecedented time was to help bring community together for the safe, socially distant music and social experience. The organizers created a truly safe and magical atmosphere. The band was situated on the steps of the church. The sound was spectacular - and the lawn was full of happy community members safely distant from each other). Everyone was masked and taking care to keep each other safe!
The atmosphere was truly magical. With the church as a backdrop and a focal point of the afternoon - magical feeling of sunbeams moving through the lawn as the afternoon progressed - as if connecting the audience and the band in the magical circle of love - and enthusiastic audience - this was a day to remember! The audience was so thrilled with this experience - and coming together united by friendships, music and the beautiful atmosphere that the music director at the Trinity Church of Southport, CT has created!
