Svetlana and the Delancey Five were hired to share their unique vintage jazz sound with the crowd a recent wedding that took place in Brooklyn’s premier event venue 501 Union. The story of how we earned the opportunity to play our vintage jazz music at this unique small New York wedding is one we love as the clients were our fans from our long-time residency at the Back Room Speakeasy. This was one of the first private events we have played since the pandemic - and one of the first events we got to play since NYC allowed small gatherings in the late spring of 2021 - and the first event at this venue post-reopening!
The event started from elegant ceremony in the light and airy space that opened up to the vibrant NYC street - with a jazz duo creating an understated elegant atmosphere for the guest arrival and ceremony
The couple wanted to keep the flow of their vintage inspired wedding relatively informal, so there was not a grand entrance or even a specific song list. Instead, this intimate wedding included a tight-knit group of close friends and family sitting around large tables in the gorgeous remodeled Brooklyn warehouse, opening the gates to the vibrant Brooklyn neighborhood, enjoying each other's company and sharing in the love felt at the special event.
The band requested several specialty tunes - including a special song we have learned for their first dance.
We transitioned from this tender moment to Jewish Hora - and to the dancing set! There was noone who remained seated - from kids, to adults!
