Svetlana and the Delancey Five were hired to share their unique vintage jazz sound with the crowd a recent wedding that took place in the Shelter Island Long Island premier event venue Ram’s Head Inn. The couple found us through our web site - it was our first time playing at this gorgeous venue!

The event started from elegant ceremony in the gazebo - facing the Long Island sound - with a jazz quartet creating an understated elegant atmosphere for the guest arrival and ceremony

We also received several requests (both for pre-recorded songs - and songs played by the band) for the ceremony - which were executed seamlessly in cooperation with the couple and the event planner at the venue.

Once the ceremony was completed the guests moved back to the house terrace where the band played another set of background jazz and wedding favorites

The food service and setting at this wedding was truly spectatular and included local food favorites

After dinner the wedding moved over to the dance / bar area - the couple requested several more specialty tunes which we have arranged and learned specifically for this occasion. They wanted Cat Power version of the famous 50s rockabilly rune Sea of Love for their first dance (the version gave this song a particularly soft and intimate vibe); then God Only Knows (By the Beach Boys) for parents dance - and on to a more boisterous Thank You For Being A Friend (a theme from Golden Girl TV show) for friends dance. From there the band moved on to many of the wedding dance classics (Billie Joel, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, and more!) - there was noone who remained seated - from kids, to adults! We have also arranged “How Sweet It Is” for the cake-cutting which followed the dancing part of the evening!

Once this complicated schedule of multiple locations, specialty tunes have been satisfied, the couple wanted to keep the flow of their classic wedding relatively informal. This intimate wedding included a tight-knit group of close friends and family sitting around large tables in the gorgeous Long Island classic Inn - opening the french doors to the vibrant summer beach-side scenery.
