Swing Jazz and Cabaret Band for Wedding at the Polo Bar NYC!

Svetlana and the Delancey Five were hired to share their unique jazz sound with the posh crowd at an exclusive wedding that took place at the famous NYC Polo Bar. The Polo Bar is a extremely handsome American restaurant by designer Ralph Lauren, serving classic dishes, bar bites & drinks - currently only open to private events.

We got a call to play this wedding just days before the event (which we found happens during this post-pandemic era when clients are eager to celebrate the life and to see the loved ones, often for the first time in months). The couple found us through our social media - it was our first time playing at this gorgeous venue and we loved every minute of it!

The event started from elegant ceremony at the nearby Park Avenue Synagogue - and proceeded to the main floor of the Polo Bar for the reception with its understated elegant atmosphere.

Once the reception was completed the guests moved downstairs for dinner and dancing. However as soon as the guests got downstairs the event turned into a big 3 hour long dance party! The couple requested several more specialty tunes which we have arranged and learned specifically for this occasion.

We received several requests from the couple and the event planner - included some Barbara Straisand and Ella Fitzgerald tunes - and have learned them specifically for the newly wedded couple! Barbara Straisand’s Happy Days Are Here again was a song that particularly resonated with the guests - especially as the lyrics speak of dark times passing over and the new happy era coming back to life! The song started as a romantic first dance and turned into a boisterous dance party!

The band played throughout the evening ending the event with the big NOLA 2nd Line procession - noone could stay seated and the whole event broke into a spontaneous boisterous celebration!
