"An Only In New York" Jazz Wedding at the Waverly Inn in NYC

Svetlana and the Delancey Five were hired to share their unique jazz sound with the posh New York crowd at an exclusive wedding that took place at the iconic Waverly Inn in the heart of West Village in NYC. The Waverly Inn is a gorgeous West Village American restaurant serving high-end renditions of American comfort fare are served with cocktails in a clubby space.

We got a call to play this wedding just days before the event because couple’s plans with another band fell through (which we found happens at times during wedding planning). The couple found us through our reputation on the jazz scene in New York - it was our first time playing at this gorgeous venue and we loved every minute of it!

The event started from elegant ceremony inside the garden of the Waveny Inn - and proceeded to the main floor of the venue for the reception with its understated elegant atmosphere. The band lead in the band to the ceremony with the Second Line sounds. And then proceeded playing background music during dinner and toasts.

Once the reception was completed the guests moved back to the garden for dancing and the event turned into a big 3 hour long dance party! The couple requested several more specialty tunes which we have arranged and learned specifically for this occasion.

We received several requests from the couple and the event planner - included some Barbara Straisand and Ella Fitzgerald tunes - and have learned them specifically for the newly wedded couple!

The band played throughout the evening ending the event with the big classic wedding floor medley - noone could stay seated and the whole event broke into a spontaneous boisterous celebration! Here is the taste => LINK.

In the end of the night the band was treated by the delicious dinner - if you are in NYC and have a chance to visit the Waverly Inn and sample it’s dishes, we highly recommend it!
