Svetlana Provides Jazz for 40th Birthday Party at Upscale Events Venue in Brooklyn

Svetlana and the Delancey Five was thrilled to perform at the birthday celebration of a wonderful New York photographer and author recently. The host has seen us perform at another event and asked us to perform at her own party on the spot! 

This Brooklyn Heights birthday party was held at an elegant, exclusive parlor level dining room/events venue. The guests were seated along two long tables that lined two walls of the brownstone parlor floor. The last drops of the early evening sun could still seen through the tall windows when the even began. Soft light shined through the ornate tulle curtains, gently illuminating the white place settings and elegantly restored vintage crown moldings. The atmosphere was elegant and understated, creating the perfect atmosphere for guests to show off their equally elegant attire.

For this Brooklyn birthday party we chose the classic New York jazz band look, attire style and repertoire, which included New York jazz classics from the songbooks of Frank Sinatra,  George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee and more. We also chose to provide a small, tasteful jazz quintet with a keyboard player, bassist, drummer, clarinet player and vocalist. Not only was this a budget-friendly live band, but also appropriate for the size of the venue and the tasteful upbeat vibe of the evening's event.

The NY jazz band was placed in the lobby leading to the dining parlor, so the guests could hear the inviting music and mingle while the dining area was set up. Elegant, tall French doors separated the dining parlor from the lobby area so the band was heard and seen by the guests, but it also did not interfere with their experience of being present for this special occasion. It was a beautiful set up -- guests enjoyed spending time with their friends at the party, but were surrounded by the tree-lined New York streets muted by the curtained windows on one side and a beautiful classic jazz band framed by the open french doors on the other. 

And the guests just loved our classic jazz music selections! Once dinner concluded, the guests naturally migrated back to the lobby area where they could not help but dance to the music – including the host and her husband. The atmosphere of the NYC birthday party was sweet, elegant and uplifting!
