Jazz & Swing Music in Prospect Park for Swing Dance and Vintage Podcast
Svetlana & the Delancey Five were invited by a swing dance events promoter to play an uplifting open air concert in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park - the concert was videotaped and later viewed at the weekly promoter’s live-stream “Speakeasy” events.
The event originated in April 2020 after COVID lock-down made meeting, playing and dancing in person impossible. So the promoter has developed a weekly All-Star variety show featuring favorite performers - streaming live from New York City - into audiences’ own quarantine speakeasy.
The series goal during this unprecedented time was to help bring people together from all over the world who share common interests (swing dancing, vintage culture, jazz and swing music); and provide musicians & performers the opportunity to share their craft with like minded people passionate about music & dance. The Quarantine Speakeasy has been live streaming every other Saturday from NYC averaging hundreds of viewers from a dozen countries and half the US
At the same time, this was also an open air community celebrations as friends and fans gathered in Prospect Park to enjoy weekend music - and is something that we see requested often during COVID pandemic. This was a truly beautiful event - uplifting sounds of music against the magical backdrop of Prospect Park!
The audience was so thrilled with this experience - and coming together united by friendships, music and the beautiful Prospect Park views!
