Svetlana & The Delancey Five Play Jazz at Vintage Birthday Party at Ginny's Supper Club NYC
The host of this NYC birthday party is an interior designer, among other things, so the event was designed to be a stylish affair. Before you knew it, she transformed Ginny's Supper Club from the already fabulous venue that it is, to a period-specific 1930's-1940's-era night club! The guests were seated along the four long tables that lined the club, and the band was situated on stage of this legendary New York event venue. The atmosphere was that of a typical classy NYC jazz club – and so was the attire of the guests.
For this birthday party we chose the vintage-inspired New York jazz band look for both our attire and repertoire. That night, we were pleased to include vintage New York jazz classics from the songbooks of Frank Sinatra, George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee and more. The host went all out and spared no expense at the party, which boasted classy decorations, programs, candle-lit centerpieces, and of course our full band. Our vintage jazz band included piano, drums, bass, saxophone, trumpet and a vocalist, and was perfectly appropriate for the size of the venue and the upbeat vibe that the event aimed for.
It was really a truly beautiful set up! Guests saw their friends sitting in front of them at the long tables and felt immersed in the atmosphere of a classic New York jazz club, all while seeing jazz band performing on stage.
The guests of the party loved our classic jazz selections. Once dinner ended, the guests naturally migrated towards the front of the venue where many of them could not help but dance to the music – including the host and her husband. The atmosphere was sweet, elegant and uplifting -- and turned into a rowdy dance party by the end of the evening, much to the delight of the guests and the birthday girl!
